Okay, relax family. I am not not having another baby right now. Haha lol and just kidding. But seriously, I just launched a business that has been in the works for some time now. To me, it feels like my baby because I have carried this vision for so long. You know, it reminds me of the verse, "For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it: because it will surely come, it will not tarry." (KJV) It seems as if this is something I saw years ago but took a while to get here. However, I know the Lord's timing is perfect. I left my full-time job last year after much consideration and prayer. Let me tell you this, I have not gone without and the Lord has provided ALL of my needs. I remember worrying about things God had already worked out. He literally is a lamp for my feet and a light to my path. The pressing was necessary. The hardships made me stronger. The disappointments, heartache and heartbreaks all pushed me toward my purpose. God was preparing me for something bigger than me. He knew I needed strong faith in this next season. Sometimes it can be hard to leave behind what's familiar: A job, good pay, benefits and so forth. I kept telling myself that obedience is better than sacrifice. I really want to go in depth but I am thinking I should save that for my next book. So, without further delay, I introduce you to my "new baby."
Raising the B.A.R. Academy LLC was birthed out of passion and a desire to give back. The A. Love Academy is a 10-week program that focuses on overcoming real-life challenges and accomplishing set goals. If we can intervene when children are most influenced, there is no limit to future success. Personally, I believe we live in a generation where children want to know why. It seems like the phrase "do as I say and not as I do" does not work anymore. They want an explanation. Whereas, I was raised in a generation where the D.A.R.E. program and say no to dugs movement was more prevalent and successful.
But wait, that's not it! I also put a new cover design on my first book, Running for My Life, The Diary of Alexis Love and added a bonus chapter. I wanted to be true to myself and purpose. Since turning 31 years old this year, I have made some major changes. Being authentic has allowed me to be free from many things, such as, the opinion of others. Another major accomplishment last month was self-publishing a children's book, I am a BABY.
In our program, we help children and teens by empowering, educating, and equipping our youth with skills that work. In order to raise the bar, we must set a higher standard. My mission as a mentor is to impact millions. My passion has always been to serve our youth and by doing so, I will know that I have fulfilled my purpose. Some studies show peer pressure and bullying can begin as early as nine years old. Raising the B.A.R. takes a preventative approach to such issues and focuses on preparation. I do believe that there is nothing "wrong" with children and perhaps they made need a positive role model, MENTOR, guidance and maybe more resources in. That is where I come in. With both personal and professional experience, I can assure you that my heart has always been in helping others, especially children and teens.
