The 9 to 5

THE 9 TO 5 IS TEMPORARY AND I’M ALREADY KNOWING

FEELS LIKE A BOAT AND I’M SINKING BUT I HAVE TO KEEP ROWING

THE WORD SAYS DON’T GET WEARY IN DOING WHAT’S GOOD

BUT OFTEN TIMES THEY DON’T GET ME

YEA I AM MISUNDERSTOOD

I TRY TO DO WHATS RIGHT IN MY FATHER’S EYES

BUT GOD I KNOW YOU HEAR ME PRAYING ON THIS 1 HR DRIVE

YOU GAVE ME A PROMISE

I SEE IT PLAIN AS DAY

BUT I’M JUST ASKING. MAKE IT CLEAR

YOU’RE THE POTTER, I’M THE CLAY

YOU KNOW MY HEART, YOU KNOW MY THOUGHTS, I JUST WANT TO GIVE BACK

AND I KNEW THAT I WOULD MAKE IT BUT WOW NOT IN TRACK

YOU SAID IN “DUE SEASON”

WELL I’M LOOKING FOR NEXT SUMMER

I CAN TELL YOU ABOUT MY LIFE AND HOW IT KEEPS ME HUMBLE.

Some may assume that all professional athletes are rich. While this is not always the case, some are in fact working either working full-time or part-time jobs. I own both my struggle and my journey and would not have it any other way. From the words of Coach Woodie, "you can be a big fish in a small sea." As I reminisce about my days at Murray State University, no one expected a junior in college to compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials but I was one of the few who earned a spot to be there. I am no stranger to hard work, as I have kept a job since the age of 16. Sorry guys, but i'm a tough cookie, there is no room for pity parties here. You may have to work harder than others and that is the beauty in the process. Nothing in life is guaranteed but with hard work and sacrifice, you get a chance. If you ask me, I only need 1.

I ask you these two questions: 1) What is your WHY? 2)How bad do you want it?

-Peace and Blessings
